Only the rapid tap tapping of computer keys are breaking the silence of the office this week, that and our attempt at ‘Name That Tune’ for the Michael Jackson ‘Man in the Mirror’ show we can hear in the Grand Theatre next door. I would have a complete score if our new media placement wasn’t such a MJ specialist.

The Company is officially ‘on holiday’, or at least the musical element is. The orchestra has slipped off post a grand finale to their season at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre Gala concert, where they accompanied Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Jose Carreras. They also performed to 55,000 people at Opera in the Park at Temple Newsam, Yorkshire, which was a great success. Whilst the Chorus is slowly returning this week, it will be another two weeks before the first rehearsals for The Adventures of Pinocchio begin.  So whilst we might normally be serenaded on the administrative floor by sopranos singing in the corridors and unnamed musicians floating melodies out of open windows….all is quiet.

It does though mean that we have time to prepare for the new season ahead and get cracking with our press plans; a fairy dual, a ghost hunt and a quest to find the best lie are just some of the ideas to emerge from a creative brainstorm.
